A4118 Parkmill, A48 Penial Green Road at M4 Junction 44, Maes y Gwernen Road, Maes y Gwernen Drive, Bishopston Road, Bishopston, Brynmill Lane, Carmarthen Road Cwmbwrla West Bound, Carmarthen Road, Cwmbwrla East Bound, Swansea NOTICE 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City and County of Swansea in pursuance of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) intend to make an Order. In order for Swansea Council to undertake resurfacing works, it will be necessary to temporarily close the above-named roads to vehicular traffic.

SCHEDULE

SCHEDULE 1 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

A4118 Parkmill (Vennaway Lane to Gower Heritage Centre) - 8th to 21st January; 21.00 to 06.00
A4118 South Road in an easterly direction from its junction with Gower Heritage Centre, to its junction with Vennaway Lane, a distance of approximately 2.3 kilometres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected length of A4118 South Gower Road (Parkmill to Port Eynon Link), Unnamed Road C173 to Little Reynoldston, Unnamed Road C167 (Reynoldston to Llanrhidian Link), Unnamed Road, B4271 North Gower Road and the unaffected length of A4118 South Gower Road, distance of approximately 23 kilometres.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction and is suitable for light vehicles only.

Large vehicles e.g. HGV Lorries and Busses will be chaperoned/marshalled through the closure

SCHEDULE 2 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

A48 Peniel Green Road at M4 Junction 44 Roundabout - 22nd to 29th January; 20.00 to 06.00 A48 at M4 junction 44 Roundabout, including M4 access slip roads and access from all adjoining approach roads.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via A48 Peniel Green Road, A48 Samlet Road, A48 Clase Road, A4067 Ffordd Cwm Tawe, Ynysforgan Roundabout, A4067 Ffordd Cwm Tawe to Glais, and the B4291 Birchgrove Road.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction, drawing No 4529H.

SCHEDULE 3 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
B4625 - J44 Link Road To Swansea Vale - 29th January to 3rd February; 20.00 to 06.00
B4625 Swansea Vale Link Road from its junction with A48 Peniel Green Road to M4 west access slip road a distance of approximately 100 metres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A48 Peniel Green Road, Church Road, Walters Road and the unaffected section of B4625 Swansea Vale link road, a distance of approximately 3.7 kilometres.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction, drawing No 4529C.

SCHEDULE 4 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
Maes y Gwernen Road and Maes Y Gwernen Drive, Cwmrhydyceirw - 2nd to 10th February; 18.00 to 0.00
Maes y Gwernen Road from its access to footbridge in a southeasterly direction to its junction with Parc Ceirw a distance of approximately 250 metres.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic (Drawing No 4529A).

Maes Y Gwernen Drive from its junction with Maes y Gwernen Road in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 200 metres.

There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic (Drawing No 4529B).

SCHEDULE 5 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
Bishopston Road, Bishopston - 14th to 24th February; 18.00 to 0.00
Bishopston Road from its junction with 4436 Northway, in a southerly direction to its junction with C148 Pyle Road a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via B4436 Northway, C148 Murton Green Road, C148 Manselfield Road, C148 Oldway and the C148 Pyle Road a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres.

Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction, drawing No 4529D.

SCHEDULE 6 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Brynmill Lane, Brynmill - 2nd to 9th March; 07.30 to 17.00 and Friday 27th February for Parks/Drainage maintenance

Brynmill Lane in a north-westerly direction from its junction with Park Place to its junction with A4118 Gower Road, a distance of approximately 900 metres.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A4118 Gower Road, A4216 Dillwyn Road, A4216 Sketty Park Road, A4216 Sketty Lane and A4067 Mumbles Road and the unaffected section of Brynmill Lane a distance of approximately 3.6 kilometres.

Similarly, this route will operate in the reverse direction, drawing No 4529E.

SCHEDULE 7 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
A483 Carmarthen Road, Cwmbwrla West Bound Only - 10th to 12th March; 20.00 to 06.00
A483 Carmarthen Road from its junction with Cwmbwrla Roundabout at Heol Y Gors in a westerly direction for a distance of 350 metres.

The alternative route will be via Pentregethin Road, Upper Gendros Crescent, Gendros Crescent and the unaffected section of A483 Carmarthen Road a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres and is for west bound traffic only. 4529F

SCHEDULE 8 - TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
Carmarthen Road, Cwmbwrla East Bound Only - 13th to 17th March; 20.00 - 06.00
A483 Carmarthen Road from its junction with Cwmbwrla Roundabout at Heol Y Gors in a westerly direction for a distance of 350 metres.

The alternative route will be via the unaffected section of A483 Carmarthen Road Gendros Crescent, Upper Gendros Crescent and Pentregethin Road a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres and is for east bound traffic only.

Access for emergency vehicles to be maintained at all times.

The maximum duration of the order is 18 months, and it is anticipated the work will take 180 days to complete effective from Thursday 8th January 2026.
