Ash Brow - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(ASH BROW, NEWBURGH, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Ash Brow, Newburgh from outside Ash Brow Cottage to outside 1 Ash Brow.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 to 1700 hours on Sunday 18th January 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Due to the nature of the works access for emergency services will not be maintained.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
A5209 Course Lane, A5209 Briars Lane, A5209 Square Lane, A59 Liverpool Road South, A59 Liverpool Road North, A59 Moss Lane, A59 Causeway Lane, A59 Liverpool Road, A581 Croston Road, A581 Meadow Lane, A581 Westhead Road, A581 Town Road, A581 Highfield Road, A581 Southport Road, A581 Dawbers Lane, A49 Wigan Road, A49 Sibbering Brow, A49 Preston Road, A49 Springs Brow, A49 Preston Road, A5209 School Lane, A5209 Almond Brook Road, A5209 Crow Orchard Road, A5209 Hall Lane, A5209 Parbold Hill, A5209 Alder Lane and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow replacement works of old lead supply with new water connection to be carried out.
