Bedfordshire, Leighton Buzzard/Heath & Reach/Milton Bryan - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, to allow for works to be carried out.
What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (SOUTH END, MILTON BRYAN)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends
not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the full length of South End, Milton Bryan.
This temporary closure is required to enable water mains renewal works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 19 January to 6 March 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Potters End, Witts End, Tingrith Rd, Long Lane, Park Rd and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 19 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (GIG LANE, HEATH & REACH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the full length of Gig Lane, Heath and Reach.
This temporary closure is required to enable gully cleansing work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 6 to 8 January 2026 between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period. The alternative route for this closure is via Eastern Way, Leighton Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 6 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (STANBRIDGE ROAD, LEIGHTON BUZZARD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Stanbridge Road, Leighton Buzzard between Marleyfields and Cherrycourt Way.
This temporary closure is required to enable railway repair works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 26 January to 6 March 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via A4012, Fraserfields Way and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 26 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL – NOTICE OF MAKING CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (VANDYKE ROAD AND NEAL CRESCENT, LEIGHTON BUZZARD) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
On 16th December 2025 Central Bedfordshire Council made the above named Traffic Regulation Order which has the effect as follows:-
To introduce a 20mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road in Leighton Buzzard:-
1. Vandyke Road, from a point approximately 39 metres northeast of Vandyke Road Spur and extending in an easterly direction for approximately 115 metres.
2. Neal Crescent, for its full length.
Date of Operation: The Order will come into operation on 30th December 2025. Details will be provided on request by e-mailing highways.consultation@centralbedfordshire. gov.uk.
High Court Challenge:- Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the ground that any requirement of that Section had not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of 16th December 2025, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
