Norwich, Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Restrictions Due To Various Works
What is happening?
NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders 2026 (Norwich) - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
Whiffler Road & Boundary Road -
A) Whiffler Road from its junction with Boundary Road for 20m southwards and;
B) U57468 Boundary Road at its junction with A140 Boundary Road and;
C) A140 Boundary Road from its junction with Drayton High Road to its junction with City View Road to facilitate traffic signal replacement works.
The road A will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic over road B will be temporarily restricted from turning right onto A140 Boundary road and the road C will be temporarily subject to a 30mph speed restriction from 9th January to 5th February 2026 (may continue until 5th August 2026).
Alternative route is via:
A) Whiffler Road, Drayton Road, Boundary Road and vice versa.
B) Boundary Road, Reepham Road, Cromer Road and Boundary Road.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Martineau Lane -
From its junction with A146 Loddon Road for 125m south-westwards to facilitate manhole excavation and repair works between 19:00 on 6th January and 06:00 on 7th January 2026 (may continue until 18th February 2026).
Alternative route is via: Barrett Road, Lakenham Road, Ipswich Road, St Stephens Road, Queens Road, Bracondale and Martineau Lane.
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
St Faiths Lane -
From its junction with Prince of Wales Road for 18m northwards to facilitate adjacent building development works from 6th January to 6th July 2026 (may continue until 5th July 2027).
Alternative route is via: St Faiths Lane, Cathedral Street, Prince Of Wales Road.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
St Faiths Lane Footway -
From its joining with Prince of Wales Road for 20m northwards to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 6th to 19th January 2026 (may continue until 2nd March 2026).
Alternative route is via: St Faiths Lane, Recorder Road, Prince Of Wales Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is Cadent.
Tuckswood Lane & Scarlet Road -
A) Tuckswood Lane (including the side roads of Tuckswood Lane for their entire length) from its junction with Hall Road Service Road to its junction with Ipswich Road and;
B) Scarlet Road from its junction with Tuckswood Lane to its junction with Greenwood Road to facilitate footway reconstruction works, the roads A and B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic over the roads A and B shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 5th January to 15th March 2026 (may continue until 15th September 2026).
Alternative route is via:
A) Hall Road Service Road, Locksley Road, Ipswich Road and vice versa.
B) Scarlet Road, Robin Hood Road, Hall Road Service Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/ footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/ restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT). Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
