Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Chester Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 5 January 2026

Coming into force: 12 January 2026

This Order is being introduced because of gas mains replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 23 January 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Chester Road at its junction with Iffley Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Iffley Road (A4158), Jackdaw Lane, Stratford Road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16320/AC)

Coming into force: 19 January 2026

This Order is being introduced because of gas mains replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 30 January 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of Gladstone Road at its junction with London Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Gladstone Road, Quarry High Street, Quarry Hollow, Beaumont Road, A4142, A420 and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16322/AC)
