What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WIGAN ROAD, CLAYTON LE WOODS, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF CYCLES) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any cycle to proceed over that length of Wigan Road, Clayton Le Woods (Cycle Lane) from a point 35 metres north of its junction with Hampton Grove, Clayton Le Woods for a distance of 50 metres in a northerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 5th January 2026 until 1800 hours on Friday 9th January 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Cyclists will be instructed to dismount and use the allocated pedestrian footway.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow spine cabling works to be carried out in the cycle lane.
