What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF WALTHAM FOREST (LBWF)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

THE WALTHAM FOREST (MAINS REPLACEMENT) (CADENT GAS) (THE CHARTER ROAD IG8)

(TEMPORARY MEASURES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025

The Council of LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that on 18th December 2025 it made an Order to enable gas mains replacement works by Cadent Gas, to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in The Charter Rd.

The general effect of the Order will be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed, prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose, at “any time” in The Charter Rd IG8 – from its junction with Tammoryt Avenue westward for 40m.

The Order will come into operation on 19th January 2026 and will be valid for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner.

NOTE: The works are expected to be completed within 1 month, however the Order has been extended to allow for contingencies.

THE WALTHAM FOREST (THAMES WATER NEW CONNECTION) (BRANDON ROAD E17)

(TEMPORARY MEASURES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025

The Council of the LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it intends to make an Order to facilitate the installation of a new water connection, by Thames Water Utilities, to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in Brandon Road.

The general effect of the Order would be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed, to prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose, at “any time,” in Brandon Rd E17 – from its junction with Wood Street north-eastward for 26m.

The Order would come into operation on 26th January 2026 and would be valid for a maximum period of 1 month or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner.

NOTE: The works are estimated for 5 days. The order has been extended to allow for contingencies.

Vehicles waiting or loading in disregard of these Orders would be removed.

Designated controlled parking spaces situated in any of roads or parts of roads mentioned in any of the above notices will be suspended during the works.

The prohibitions mentioned above would not apply in relation to any vehicle being used:

a) in connection with the said works;

b) for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes (if the works allow).

Signage would be placed in advance of any works which would be in place, to indicate the exact dates of the restrictions, effects of any changes to existing traffic management and diversion routes as necessary.
