Essex, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Utility Works

What is happening?

(Spring Lane North/Bakers Lane, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spring Lane North/Bakers Lane, Colchester the City of Colchester, from its junction with Spring Lane Roundabout to the junction with Braiswick a distance of approximately 2030m. The closures are scheduled to commence on 14th January 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2392111 & EP201EH2392128 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Spring Lane Roundabout, A133, Cymbeline Roundabout, A1124 Westbound, Halstead Road, Chitts Hill, Newbridge Hill, Chapel Road, B1508 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Avenue, Wivenhoe)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Avenue, Wivenhoe in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 100m north east of its junction with Palmer Gardens for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 31st January 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30082183315 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while UKPN Works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via B1028, Rectory Road, Belle Vue Road, B1028 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 18th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Thorrington Road, Great Bentley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Thorrington Road, Great Bentley in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 360m north west then south west of its junction with Plough Road for a distance of approximately 500m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGJN916WETHSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling and pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Thorrington Road, Weeley Road, Shair Lane, A133, Colchester Road, B1029, Great Bentley Road, Thorrington Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Water Lane, Little Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Water Lane, Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 1350m north east of its junction with School Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310798745 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Water Lane, Horkesley Hill, London Road, Fishponds Hill, Nayland Road, Water Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
