Elm Street - Temporary Road Closure
What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Elm Street) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.13) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 12th January 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
ELM STREET
From its junction with Great Southsea Street to its junction with Little Southsea Street.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate gas works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 12th January 2026 to 30th January 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Great Southsea Street, Chapel Street, Little Southsea Street, Bush Street West, Kings Road, Castle Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
