Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow the Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Canterbury from 21st January 2026 for up to one day.
Event Schedule
The below roads will be closed between the hours of 09:00 and 09:15
• Giles Lane, Canterbury will be closed between the junctions with University Road and St Stephens Hill.
The below roads will be closed between the hours of 09:00 and 10:30
• St Stephens Hill, Canterbury will be closed between the junctions with Downs Road and Giles Lane.
• Canterbury Hill, Tyler Hill will be closed in its entirety.
• Wood Hill, Tyler Hill will be closed in its entirety.
• Hackington Road, Tyler Hill will be closed in its entirety.
• Thornden Wood Road, Chestfield & Herne Bay will be closed between the junctions with Hackington Road and Owls Hatch Road.
• Radfall Road, Chestfield will be closed in its entirety.
• Radfall Hill, Chestfield will be closed between the junctions with Radfall Road and South Street.
• South Street, Chestfield & Whitstable will be closed between the junctions with Radfall Hill and Millstrood Road.
• Chestfield Road, Chestfield will be closed between the junctions with South Street and Cherry Orchard.
The below roads will be closed between the hours of 09:00 and 11:00
• Bourne Lodge Close, Blean will be closed in its entirety.
• School Lane, Blean will be closed in its entirety.
• Tyler Hill Road, Blean & Tyler Hill will be closed between the junctions with School Lane and Link Road.
All roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so and marshals will be on site.
Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closures.
Cedar Road, Hoades Wood Road & Oakwood Road, Sturry. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow water mains works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of Cedar Road, Sturry from 5th January 2026, with estimated completion by 15th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
Phase 1 - Cedar Road
The road will be closed between number 45 and the junction with Hoades Wood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Hoades Wood Road, Babs Oak Hill, A28 Island Road, Homewood Road and vice versa.
Phase 2 - Hoades Wood Road
The road will be closed between the junctions with Cedar Road and Oakwood Road.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Hoades Wood Road, Babs Oak Hill, A28 Island Road, Homewood Road and vice versa.
Phase 3 - Oakwood Road
The road will be closed between the junctions with Hoades Wood Road and Laburnum Lane.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Oakwood Road, Laburnum Lane, Hoades Wood Road and vice versa.
Church Lane, Seasalter, CT5 4UN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow new mains connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Church Lane, Seasalter from 19th January 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road, Church Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Hatch Lane, Chartham, CT4 7HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hatch Lane, Chartham from 19th January 2026, with estimated completion by 21st January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Highdown, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles under 3.6m (12’ 0”) is via Hatch Lane, A28 Ashford Road, Howfield Lane, Town Lane and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 3.6m (12’ 0”) northbound is via Hatch Lane, A28 Ashford Road, Thanington Road, Wincheap, A290 Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, Harbledown Bypass, A2 Dover Road, Denstead Lane, Gravel Hill, Town Lane and Hatch Lane.
The alternative route for vehicles over 3.6m (12’ 0”) southbound is via Hatch Lane, Town Lane, Gravel Hill, Denstead Lane, A2 Boughton Bypass, Dunkirk Slip Westbound Off, Canterbury Road, A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, Harbledown Slip Eastbound Off, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout, A290 Rheims Way, A28 Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road and Hatch Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable from 21st January 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 3 and 5, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Middle Wall, Waterloo Road, Island Wall and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kite Farm, Whitstable, CT5 2RQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kite Farm, Whitstable from 5th January 2026, with estimated completion by 1st March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. The road will be closed in 80m sections in phases.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Marley Lane, Kingston, CT4 6FG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow signage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marley Lane, Kingston from 8th January 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with The Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Westwood Road, Turks Hill, Marley Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Molehill Road, Chestfield. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Molehill Road, Chestfield from 20th January 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Birkdale Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Molehill Road, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Road, Thornden Wood Road, Molehill Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pond Cottages, Herne, CT6 7AF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pond Cottages, Herne from 5th January 2026, with estimated completion by 7th January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Huntsman & Horn, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pond Cottages, Margate Road, Ford Road, Broomfield Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Reed Avenue, Canterbury, CT1 1TS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Reed Avenue, Canterbury from 21st January 2026, with estimated completion by 18th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 39 and 101, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Reed Avenue, South Street, A28 Sturry Road, Reed Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Spenser Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5QZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow carriageway and footway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Spenser Road, Herne Bay from 5th January 2026, with estimated completion by 16th January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 66, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Spenser Road, B2205 Canterbury Road, Kings Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Peter’s Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Peter’s Road, Whitstable from 8th January 2026 with estimated completion by 9th January 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Woodlawn Street travelling 40m in a southerly direction, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodlawn Street, Stream Walk, Sydenham Street, St Peter’s Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Westmeads Road, Whitstable, CT5 1JE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026
To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Westmeads Road, Whitstable from 19th January 2026, with estimated completion by 30th January 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wheatley Road, Cromwell Road, Railway Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
