(Crawley: A23 (Southbound)) 

(Temporary 30 Speed Limit) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice WSCC intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 30MPH on the A23 Southbound between Old Brighton Road South and County Oak Way. 

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst water main works are undertaken.  

The Order will come into effect on 10 January 2026 and will last for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. The reduced speed limit is expected to be in force until 18 January 2026.

Any queries about the works to take place should be directed to Sutton and East Surrey Water Company, telephone number 01737 72000. Any queries about the effect of the Order on vehicles using the highway should be directed to WSCC, telephone number 01243 642105.
