Argyle Street - Temporary Prohibition of driving order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(ARGYLE STREET, HEBBURN) ORDER 2025
On 17 December 2025 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 22 December 2025 will:- REVOKE No Waiting Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm and No Loading Mon-Fri 8am-5pm on Argyle St, north side from a point 145m east of its junction with the east kerbline of Caledonian St for 205m in an
easterly direction and south side from a point 120m east of its junction with the east kerbline of Olwen Drive for 30m in an easterly direction and from a point 167m east of its junction with the east kerbline of Olwen Drive for 273m in an easterly direction. REVOKE No Waiting 8am-6pm on Argyle St north side west of its junction with Caledonian St in a south westerly direction for 15m and east of its junction with Caledonian St in a north easterly direction for 15m and south side west of its junction with Holystone St in a south westerly direction for 15m and east of its junction with Holystone St in a north easterly direction for 15m. Following objections No Waiting and No Loading/Unloading At Any
Time restrictions on Argyle St north side have been reduced to what was originally proposed and will now INTRODUCE No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Argyle St north side from its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 75m; from a point 155m east of its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 20m ; from a point 210m east of its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 60m; from a point 306m east of its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 22m; from
a point 383m east of its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 10m and south side from a point 65m east of its junction with Caledonian St eastwards for 392m. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds
that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 17 December 2025 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
