THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAKEFIELD
(WHINNEY LANE, STREETHOUSE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 1) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for annual level crossing test to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Whinney Lane, Streethouse. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Whinney Lane.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Whinney Lane, Wakefield Road, Common Side Lane, New Road, Mill Lane, Whinney Lane & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 at 22.30 hours to 6th January 2026 at 05.30 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(MICKLEGATE, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 2) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for upgrade works as part of the Streets for People scheme to be carried out as follows:ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Micklegate, Pontefract one way from Broad Lane to Castle Chain. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Micklegate.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Southgate, South Baileygate, North Baileygate, Spink Lane, Micklegate.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 at 07.00 hours to 18th February 2026 at 17.00 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(FERRYBRIDGE ROAD, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 3) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for installation of telecoms cable to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Ferrybridge Road, Pontefract for approximately 10 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Ferrybridge Road.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Ferrybridge Road, Pontefract Road, Great North Road, Pontefract Road, Knottingley Road, Bondgate, North Baileygate, Mill Dam Lane.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 to 7th January 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(GLEBE STREET, CASTLEFORD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 4) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for a new electric service connection to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Glebe Street, Castleford for approximately 125 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Glebe Street.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Beancroft Road, Cambridge Street, University Street, Lower Oxford Street, Vickers Street, Smawthorne Lane, Beancroft Road & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 6th January 2026 to 16th February 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(MANOR PARK AVENUE, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 6) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for gas mains replacement to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Manor Park Avenue, Pontefract full length The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Manor Park Avenue.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Manor Park Avenue, Dulverton Way, Ferrybridge Road & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 to 3rd February 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(STATION ROAD, ACKWORTH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 7) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds to complete overhead line works to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Station Road, Ackworth from the junction of Long Lane for approximately 200 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Station Road.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Doncaster Road, Rigg Lane, Station Road & vice versa. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services when safe to do so.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 at 08.00 hours to 18.00 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(LONG LANE, ACKWORTH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 8) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds to complete overhead line works to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Long Lane, Ackworth from the junction of Station Road for approximately 400 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Long Lane. ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Long Lane, Pontefract Road, Station Road & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 at 08.00 hours to 18.00 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(CASTLE CHAIN, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 10) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for upgrade works as part of the Streets for People scheme to be carried out as follows:ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Castle Chain, Pontefract one way, full length. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Castle Chain.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Access maintained.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 at 07.00 hours to 30th January 2026 at 17.00 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(BRIERLEY ROAD, SOUTH HIENDLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 11) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds to locate & clear blockages on existing Openreach network for the roll out of fibre to be carried out as follows:ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Brierley Road, South Hiendley from the junction with Regent Street to the district boundary. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Brierley Road. ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Brierley Road, High Street, Robin Lane, Barnsley Road, Barewell Hill, Barnsley Road & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 to 9th January 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(FOOTPATH 10, SOUTH ELMSALL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER (NO 13) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield by reason of works to allow for safe building of a new housing development to be carried out on or near Footpath 10, South Elmsall from the junction with footpath 11 to the railway lines, and the likelihood of danger arising to the public, intend not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make an Order the effect of which will be that no person shall proceed in the length of public footpath.

Alternative route for pedestrians: Footpath 11, Station Road & vice versa.

The order comes into operation on 5th January 2026 to 5th June 2026.

(JIN WHIN HILL, FOOTPATH 50, CASTLEFORD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER (NO 14) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield by reason of works to allow for the undertaking of heavy civils construction works to Whitwood Mere outlet pipe below flood embankment to be carried out on or near Jin Whin Hill, Footpath 50, Castleford, and the likelihood of danger arising to the public, intend not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make an Order the effect of which will be that no person shall proceed in the length of public footpath.

Alternative route for pedestrians: Riverside Way, Riverside View, Park Way, Grove Street, Cinder Lane, Methley Road, Jin Whin Hill, Leeds Road & vice versa.

The order comes into operation on 5th January 2026 to 20th March 2026.

(MOORHOUSE VIEW, SOUTH ELMSALL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 15) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds to install a new electrical connection to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Moorhouse View, South Elmsall outside numbers 23

to 30. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Moorhouse View.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: No diversion as road a dead end. Access for emergency services and residents will be maintained when safe to do so and overnight by means of road plates on site.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 to 9th January 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(PEAR TREE LANE, HEMSWORTH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 16) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds to repair collapsed sewer and install a new manhole cover & frame to be carried out as follows:ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Pear Tree Lane, Hemsworth between numbers 10 to 12 Barnsley Road. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Pear Tree Lane.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: No diversion due to road layout. Residents access will be maintained when safe to do so by means of a road plate on site. PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 5th January 2026 to 9th January 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.
