Abbey Lane - Proposed Pegasus Crossing
What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE - ABBEY LANE - PROPOSED PEGASUS CROSSING
Notice is hereby given that Sheffield City Council in exercise of its powers and having consulted with the Chief of Police under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers propose to install a Pegasus crossing as listed below:
1 Pegasus Crossing (a signal-controlled crossing with special consideration for horse riders) on Abbey Lane – 14 metres north west of its junction with the north western kerb line of Abbey Croft.
The extent of the crossing and its zig zag ‘no stopping’ lines extend from a point 12 metres south east of its junction with the north western kerb line of Abbey Croft for a distance of 48 metres in a north westerly direction.
This measure is aimed at improving road safety for horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians on Abbey Lane and will be accompanied by associated highway improvements.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Sheffield City Council proposes to make an Order under the provisions of Sections 1, 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 46A, 49, 51, 53 and 124(1)(c), (d) (f) and Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce:
No waiting at any time on parts of Abbey Lane, Abbey Croft, Abbey Grange and Whirlowdale Road
Disabled persons’ badge holders parking places on parts of Abbey Lane and Whirlowdale Road
Weight restriction 7.5 tonnes except for loading on part of Whirlowdale Road
And remove
40mph Speed Limit on part of Abbey Lane
Weight restriction 7.5 tonnes except for access on part of Whirlowdale Road
