What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(HIGH STREET, SUTTON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Street, Sutton for the entire length of road.
This temporary closure is required to enable footway and carriageway patching work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 6 to 8 January 2026 between the hours of 930am and 1430pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via B1040, Biggleswade Rd, B1042, Sutton Rd and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 6 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(EVERTON ROAD AND EVERTON HILL, TEMPSFORD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Everton Road and Everton Hill, Tempsford 20 metres either side of the level crossing.
This temporary closure is required to enable level crossing testing work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 4th to 5th January 2026 between the hours of 11pm and 6am. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Sandy Rd, Everton Rd, Swaden, Potton Rd/B1042, Bedford Rd/B1042, At Sandy Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto London Rd/A1, Everton Rd and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 4th January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(ORCHARD WAY, LOWER STONDON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Orchard Way, Lower Stondon outside number 9.
This temporary closure is required to enable comms pipe repair work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 5 to 7 January 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
There is no alternative route for this closure.
The Order will come into operation on 5 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

(HIGH STREET, BROOM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Street, Broom from High Road to Southill Rd.
This temporary closure is required to enable drainage works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 5 to 13 January between the hours of 0800-1800. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure will be via High Road, Gypsy Lane, Southill Rd, and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 5 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(CAMPTON AND CHICKSANDS: FOOTPATH NO. CA3)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of Footpath No. CA3, Campton and Chicksands which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 1311 3786 to OS GR TL 1332 3771.
This temporary closure is required as the bridge abutments are flood damaged and the bridge needs replacing. The closure is expected to take place from 19 December 2025 for up to six months.
There is no alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation.

The Order will come into operation on 19 December 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpath have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

(TEMPSFORD: FOOTPATH NOS. 3 AND 7)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the lengths of:
I. Footpath No. 3, Tempsford which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 1627 5397 to OS GR TL 1621 5454.
II. Footpath No. 7, Tempsford which extends from OS GR TL 1613 5416 to OS GR TL 1613 5421.
These temporary closures are required as part of a bridge deck is damaged and needs repairing. The closures are expected to take place from 15 December 2025 for up to six months.
There is no alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO REVOKE
WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON SHORTMEAD STREET, BIGGLESWADE
Reason for proposal: The existing waiting restrictions have been reviewed and are no longer considered necessary to manage traffic flow or maintain safety at this location. Removing them will improve accessibility for residents and businesses, support local economic activity, and ensure that restrictions remain proportionate and relevant to current needs.
Effect of the Order:
To revoke 3 hour Limited Waiting with No Return within 1 hours from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm on the following length of road in Biggleswade:-
1. Shortmead Street, east side, from a point in line with the southern end of the layby starting outside of No.40 Shortmead Street, extending in a north-westerly direction to the end of the layby outside of No.46 Shortmead Street.
