Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
MAIDSTONE AND TONBRIDGE & MALLING AREAS
B2246 Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, ME16 9NT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic and impose a 30 MPH speed limit on part of B2246 Hermitage Lane, Maidstone, on or after 12th January 2026 for up to 40 days or until the works have been completed.
B2246 Hermitage Lane will have a 30 MPH speed limit imposed from 12th January 2026, with estimated completion date of 20th February 2026, between the junction with Hermitage Court to the junction with Giddyhorn Lane.
B2246 Hermitage Lane will be closed from 2nd February 2026 with estimated completion date of 8th February 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, between the junction with Hermitage Court to the junction with Giddyhorn Lane. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. Access will be maintained for blue light vehicles.
The alternative route for any Northbound through traffic is via B2246 Hermitage Lane, B2246 Fountain Lane, A26 Tonbridge Road, A20 Terrace Road, A20 London Road and B2246 Hermitage Lane.
The alternative route for any Southbound through traffic is via B2246 Hermitage Lane, A20 London Road, A26 Tonbridge Road, B2246 Fountain Lane and B2246 Hermitage Lane.
