(PUBLIC FOOTPATH CH23 – CLIPSTON)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above Order made by West Northamptonshire Council on 19th December 2024 and which came into effect on 26th December 2024 has been extended until the works to which it relates have been completed or until midnight on 26th June 2026 whichever is sooner by the Secretary of State for Transport. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said footpath is unaffected.
REASON FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required for health and safety for the following reasons:-
• A ccess to site is on a scheduled monument. Historic England has requested additional testing for track mats to ensure land is not disturbed.
• Structure is above EA watercourse, EA consent required.
• Parapet has been removed and now has an exposed edge.

(Length of footpath to be closed)
The full length of public footpath CH23 be closed commences off Kelmarsh Road, near the junction with Bassat Way at point A on the map at National Grid Reference ‘NGR’ SP7142 8147. The route proceeds generally south-east for 110 metres crossing the Sidom’s Ford to terminate at point B at NGR SP7148 8138.
The route to be closed is shown on the map by a solid black line between points A-B.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE:
The alternative route commences at point A on the map off Kelmarsh Road at NGR SP7142 8147 and proceeds for 390 metres generally northwest along the footway and then north-east along the footway of Church Lane to point D at NGR SP 7160 8178. The route then proceeds south-east for 694 metres along bridleway CH14 to point C at NGR SP7189 8118. The route then turns north-west and proceeds along footpath CH15 for 463 metres to terminate at point B at NGR SP7148 8138. The alternative route is shown on the map by a broken black line between points A-D-C-B.
