Oundle Road, Alwalton & Chesterton - Temporary Traffic Prohibitions

What is happening?

CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council intends after 7 days, to make an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:

Oundle Road, Alwalton Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic – Order 2026-10069

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Oundle Road, Alwalton as lies between No.47 & A1 Junction Join South. The alternative route for vehicles is via A605; A1260; A47; A1. The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate new water connection & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway & it will come into operation on 12/1/26 & continue until these works have finished or on the 11/7/27 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 18:00hrs & 06:00hrs 12/1 to 13/1/26.

Oundle Road A605 & Oundle Road, Chesterton Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic & Temporary 30mph Speed Limit – Order 2026-10134

Is to impose a 30mph speed limit & stop any vehicle from proceeding along Oundle Road A605 & Oundle Road, Chesterton as lies between A1 & Oundle Rd; County Border & Chesterton Bridleway 4 respectively. The Order will be effective, for safety purposes, when signs are in place indicating the speed limit along the whole or any part of the above mentioned length of road whilst works are in progress or temporarily suspended. The alternative route for vehicles is via Oundle Rd, Elton; B671; A605; A1139; A605 & vice versa. The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate drainage system construction & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway & it will come into operation on 5/1/26 & continue until these works have finished or on the 4/7/27 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 5/1 & 20 / 2/26.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by these orders. The above orders shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which these are made, any member of the Police Force, Fire & Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.
