What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (New Birmingham Road, Dudley and Oldbury) (Temporary Central Reservation Gap Closures) and (Temporary 30mph Speed Limit Restriction) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding v ia the central reservation gaps which will be closed adjacent 176 New Birmingham Road , Oldbury & 249/251 New Birmingham Road, Dudley. A traffic diversion route for the first closure will be signed via New Birmingham Road (north-westerly direction), Burnt Tree, Dudley Port, Sedgley Road East, Tipton Road, Dudley Road East & Lower City Road. A temporay 30mph speed limit restriction will be in operation on New Birmingham Road (both southerly & northerly directions) between the junctions of Burnt Tree & Lower City Road (applied under a phased process). The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 30/04/2026 effective from 05/01/2026. Purpose – to facilitate access to construct a new cycle lane facility by Fitzgerald Contractors Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Sandfields Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Sandfields Road between the junctions of George Road & Conway Avenue (western side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via George Road, Hill Top Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/01/2026 effective from 05/01/2026. Purpose – to facilitate access to install a sewer lining by Ipsum Utilities on behalf of Severn Trent Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Gorsty Hill Road, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Gorsty Hill Road, which will be closed at the junction of Halesowen Street/Beeches Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Halesowen Street, Horner Way, Long Lane, Mucklow Hill, Dudley Road, Halesowen Road, Furnace Hill, Coombs Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 12/01/2026 (9:30am-3pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Sandwell Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary One-Way Operation) Order 2025 intends, other than in a north-easterly direction, to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along S andwell Road between the entrance to Sandwell Road/Temple Street Car Park & High Street. A diversion route for southwest bound traffic will be signed via Sandwell Road, Mill Street, Temple Street & High Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 16/02/2026 effective from 13/02/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road, Titford Road and Trinity Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) and (Broad Street to Trinity Street) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road, Titford Road & Trinity Street as detailed below. Access to any affected frontages within the road closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Trinity Street – closed between the junctions of Park Lane to Station Road (5th-6th January 2026). Traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road & vice versa. Station Road – closed from the junction of Trinity Street for a distance of 30 metres (5th-6th January 2026). Traffic will be diverted as above. Station Road – closed from the junction of Trinity Street for a distance of 35 metres (6th January 2026). Traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Joinings Bank, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Langley High Street, Broad Street & Titford Road. Trinity Street – closed between the junctions of Titford Road & Station Road (6th January 2026). Traffic will be diverted as above. Titford Road – closed from the gable end of property No.41 to the junction with Park Lane (7th-8th January 2026). The order intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the link footpath leading from Broad Street to Trinity Street, which will be closed (6th January 2026). A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Whyley Walk, Station Road & vice versa. The maximum duration for the phased closures is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 09/01/2026 effective from 05/01/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Woden Road West, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Woden Road West, which will be closed between the gable ends of property Nos. 7 & 13. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Darlaston Road, Pinfold Street, Dangerfield Lane & vice versa. Advance signage will be installed at the Moxley Junction Roundabout advising no access to Woden Road West from Dangerfield Lane & to follow a signed diversion route via Moxley Road & Pinfold Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 15/01/2026 (9:30am-3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a defective access service cover and frame by Severn Trent Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Dawes Avenue, Ellison Street and Gill Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Dawes Avenue, which will be closed between the junctions of Kelvin Way & Johnston Street from the 5th January-8th February 2026 (phased closures during this time period). The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Ellison Street & Gill Street, which will both be closed at the junction of Dawes Avenue from the 19th January-8th February 2026. A traffic diversion route for the Dawes Avenue closure will be signed via Kelvin Way, Johnston Street & vice versa. A traffic diversion route for the Ellison Street & Gill Street closures will be signed via Bache Street, Johnston Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 08/02/2026 effective from 05/01/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new water main by Onsite on behalf of South Staffs Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Ault Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Ault Street, which will be closed at the junction of Kelvin Way. A traffic diversion route (easterly direction) will be signed via Kelvin Way, Kenrick Way & Spon Lane South. A traffic diversion route (southerly direction) will be signed via Bullock Street, Grice Street, Spon Lane South, Kenrick Way & Kelvin Way. The closure will be in operation over the following weekends: 1) 10th-11th January 2026 (24hr). 2) 17th-18th January 2026 (24hr). 3) 24th-25th January 2026 (24hr). The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 25/01/2026 effective from 10/01/2026. Purpose – to facilitate access for water service works by South Staffs Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Elwell Street, West Bromwich) Temporary No Waiting At Any Time Restriction) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on the southern side of Elwell Street from the western boundary line of Unit 10 to the eastern boundary line of Unit 1. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 21/01/2026 effective from 31/12/2025 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate the erection of hoarding by DJH Ravcon Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Blackberry Lane, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along B lackberry Lane, which will be closed from its junction with Dudley Road to its junction with Springfield Lane. Ac cess to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via D udley Road, Springfield Lane & vice versa. T he maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 22/02/2026 effective from 05/01/2026 (24hrs). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Farm Road, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Farm Road, which will be closed in two sections – 1st section from its junction with The Avenue to the northern boundary of property No.34 & the 2nd section from its junction with The Avenue to the southern bondary of property No.72. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Knowle Road, Harvest Road, Fallow Field Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 07/01/2026 effective from 05/01/2026 (8:30am-5:30pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bull Lane, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Bull Lane, which will be closed at it’s junction with Piercy Street from the western boundary of property No.50 to the eastern boundary of property No.90a. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Milward Street, Wood Lane, Hambletts Road, Bull Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 08/01/2026 (8am-4pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kerr Drive, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Kerr Drive, which will be closed at its junction with Henn Drive to the southern boundary of property No.23. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Henn Drive, Parkes Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 14/01/2026 effective from 12/01/2026 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by South Staffs Water.
