Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - The A24 GLA Road (Stonecot Hill and London Road, London Borough of Sutton) (20 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2026
The A23 GLA Road (Thornton Road and Purley Way, London Borough of Croydon)
(20 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2026
1. Transport for London, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Order under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general nature and effect of the Orders would be to impose a speed limit of 20 MPH on the:
(1) A24 GLA Road - Stonecot Hill and London Road, the south-westbound carriageway between a point opposite a point 13 metres north-east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 2-8 and 10-14 Stonecot Hil and the extended common boundary of Nos. 784 and 786 London Road as well as all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of this road in the London Borough of Sutton.
(2) A24 GLA Road - Stonecot Hill and London Road, the north-eastbound carriageway between the extended common boundary of Nos. 784 and 786 London Road and a point 11.5 metres south-west of the extended common boundary of Nos. 2-8 and 10-14 Stonecot Hill as well as all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of this road in the London Borough of Sutton
(3) A23 GLA Road - Thornton Road and Purley Way between the extended common building line of Nos. 13 and 15 Thornton Road and a point opposite the northern building line of Nos 4 and 5 Purley Way Crescent, including Lombard Roundabout, as well as all GLA Side Roads -Red Route returns of this road in the London Borough of Croydon.
3. The roads which would be affected by the Orders are GLA Main Road and all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of this road as listed in article 2 above.
4. The roads affected are currently subject to a permanent speed limit of 30 MPH.
5. A copy of the Orders, a statement of Transport for London's reasons for the proposals, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Orders can be inspected by visiting our website at: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro, and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. 6. All objections and other representations to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ or by emailing: trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk, quoting reference NP SNO/REGULATION/STOT/JW/TRO/ GLA/2026/0008-0009 to arrive before 2nd January 2026. Please note due to Hybrid working access to post is restricted and requests for documents and confirmation of your objections or representations may be delayed. Objections and other representations may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
