NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL COAST PROTECTION ACT 1949
NOTICE OF COAST PROTECTION WORK
Northumberland County Council (“the Authority”), acting in its capacity as the coast protection authority under the Coast Protection Act 1949, hereby gives notice under section 5(1) of that Act that it proposes to carry out coast protection works at the Beadnell North Bayfrontage,HarbourRoad,Beadnell,Northumberland.
The proposed works comprise the repair and improvement of the existing seawall as part of a coastal protection scheme. The existing structure is in poor condition and no longer provides an effective standard of defence.
The estimated cost of the works is £800,000, funded through Flood Defence Grant in Aid, Local Levy and a contribution from Northumberland County Council.
Any person wishing to object to the proposed works may do so by giving notice in writing, stating the grounds of their objection, within 28 days from the date of first publication of this notice.
Objections must be sent by pre-paid post to both:
1. The Secretary of State for Environment, Food andRural Affairs, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Seacole Building, 2 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DF; and
2. The Chief Executive, Northumberland County Council,County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 2EF. All objections must be received no later than the end of the 28-day objection period.
