Hertfordshire, Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Waiting Restrictions Due To Various Works

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of Harvesters, St Albans) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Harpersfest, St Albans from its junction with Sandringham Crescent south westwards, north westwards, south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 318m ("the Road"), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained where possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7th January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden/ Wheathampstead) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden/Wheathampstead from its junction with the B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden/Wheathampstead westwards to its junction with B652 Station Road, a distance of approximately 3630m ("the Road"), except for access.

An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 (Station Road/High Street/The Hill/Wheathampstead Road/High Street/St Albans Road/Sandridge Road/Stonecross), A1081 (St Peters Street/Harpenden Road), A5183 and B652 Station Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29th December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Repton Green/Birchmead Close, St Albans) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Redbourn Green/Birchmead Close, St Albans from its junction with Redbourn Road south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 144m ("the Road"), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained where possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6th January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing And Temporary Waiting Restrictions In B652 Station Road, Harpenden) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B652 Station Road, Harpenden from its junction with B653 Lower Luton Road north eastwards, north eastwards and eastwards for a distance of approximately 432m ("the Road"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of road whilst works are in progress.

An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 (Station Road/High Street/The Hill/Wheathampstead Road/High Street/St Albans Road), Beech Road and A1081 (Harpenden Road/St Albans Road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5th January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing And Temporary Waiting Restrictions In Various Roads In St Albans, Bricket Wood And Harpenden) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. That length of Beaumont Avenue, St Albans from its junction with Sandpit Lane south eastwards to its junction with Beechwood Avenue, a distance of approximately 801m.

    – The alternative route will be via: Sandpit Lane and Beechwood Avenue.

  2. That length of The Uplands, Bricket Wood from its junction with Old Watford Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Jenkins Avenue, a distance of approximately 330m.

    – The alternative route will be via: Old Watford Road, Broadacre and Jenkins Avenue.

  3. That length of The Crescent, Bricket Wood from its junction with South Riding south westwards and south eastwards for its entire length.

    – There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in these roads will be maintained where possible throughout the duration of the works.

  4. That length of (Salisbury Road/Batford Road), Harpenden from its junction with Southview Road south easttwards to its junction with Common Lane, a distance of approximately 494m.

    – The alternative route will be via: Southview Road, B653 Lower Luton Road and Common Lane.

  5. That length of Langley Crescent, St Albans from its junction with Townsend Drive south westwards to its junction with Waverley Road, a distance of approximately 361m.

    – An alternative route will be via Townsend Drive, Batchwood Drive and Waverley Road. 

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22nd December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Folly Fields, Wheathampstead) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Folly Fields, Wheathampstead from its junction with B652 Lower Luton Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 175m ("the Road"), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22nd December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Wheathampstead Road, Harpenden/ Wheathampstead) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Wheathampstead Road, Harpenden/Wheathampstead from its junction with the Piggotshill Lane roundabout south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Harpenden Road, a distance of approximately 1587m ("the Road"), except for access.

An alternative route will be via: Piggotshill Lane, Topstreet Way, Milton Road, B652 Station Road, B653 Lower Luton Road, B651 (Station Road/High Street, Church Street, Brewhouse Hill and Harpenden Road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22nd December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Long Buftlers, Wheathampstead) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Long Buftlers, Wheathampstead from its junction with Wheathampstead Road south eastwards and south westtwards to its junction with Croftwell, a distance of approximately 393m ("the Road"), except for access.

An alternative route will be via: Wheathampstead Road, Meadway and Croftwell.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 8th December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of White Hedge Drive, St Albans) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of White Hedge Drive, St Albans from its junction with Links View north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Ladies Grove, a distance of approximately 270m ("the Road"), except for access.

An alternative route will be via: Links View and Ladies Grove.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 8th December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Waiting Restrictions On Chiswell Green Lane, St Albans) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of Chiswell Green Lane, St Albans from its junction with St Stephen Public Footpath no.082 north eastwards to a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.35 Chiswell Green Lane, a distance of approximately 133m ("the Road"), where signs are in place.

The Order is needed to facilitate temporary construction access on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 8th December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

The Hertfordshire (Woollam Crescent, St Albans) (Restriction Of Waiting) Order 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Woollam Crescent, St Albans as specified in the Schedule to this notice.

The restriction will prevent vehicles from waiting at any time in the sections of road described in the Schedule from 12th December 2025.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 4th December 2025 to 15th January 2026 during normal office hours at: Main Reception, Hertfordshire County Council, County Hall, Hertford or online at:

www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders, (quoting reference number SA00225).

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order, or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been compiled with may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

Schedule:

Woollam Crescent – at any time – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan - Parts of Woollam Crescent.
