Oxford – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, Giles Road, Littlemore
Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 1 December 2025
Coming into force: 8 December 2025
This Order is being introduced because of gas mains replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 19 December 2025. This is a 24 hour daily road closure.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Giles Road at its junction with St Nicholas Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Giles Road, Champion Way, Cowley Road, St Nicholas Road and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16321/AC)

Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 29 December 2025
Coming into force: 5 January 2026
This Order is being introduced because of gas mains replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 22 May 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Marlborough Road from No.270 to the junction of Whitehouse Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Whitehouse Road, Chilswell road and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16802/AC)

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Whitehouse Road from the junction of Marlborough Road to the junction of Long Ford Close. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16803/AC)

Blackbird Leys, Knights Road
Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 7 April 2025
Coming into force: 14 April 2025
This Order is being introduced because of road layout reconfiguration including footpath and cycle path which are anticipated to be completed 04 July 2025, has now been extended to 31 December 2025. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Knights Road from junction of Blackbird Leys Road, 65m southwards towards Willow Way. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Knights Road, Merlin Road, Blackbird Leys Road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T14900/AC)
