What is happening?

NOTICE OF MAKING OF AN ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION (PUBLIC FOOTPATHS 203 AND 206, MESSINGHAM) ORDER 2025(2)

The above order, made on 3 December 2025, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, will divert the public footpaths in Messingham running (1) 750 metres from SE91570418 on Brigg Road generally north west through and beyond Belle Vue Farm to a midpoint within an enclosure north of woodland at SE91210461 thence west to a kissing gate in said enclosure's western boundary at SE91090459; and (2) 115 metres from SE91210461 generally north east to the southern corner of a belt of trees and bushes around a pond at SE91250471, to a line running 720 metres from SE91400410 on Brigg Road generally northwestwards through and then alongside woodland to the south-west corner of an enclosure at SE91090455 to link with the footpath beyond; and a further line running 202 metres north-east from a kissing gate at SE91090459 across said enclosure to SE91250471, and if confirmed the definitive map and statement will be modified in consequence.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Church Square House, 30-40 High Street, Scunthorpe, DN15 6NL from 9am to 4.30pm on weekdays, other than public holidays. Copies of the order and the map may be viewed there or online at www.northlincs.gov.uk (search on 'Public Rights of Way Current Public Notices').

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to the Principal Access and Commons Officer at Highways Asset Team, North Lincolnshire Council, 8-9 Billet Lane, Scunthorpe, DN15 9YH or via prow@northlincs.gov.uk not later than 9 January 2026.

Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, North Lincolnshire Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation, any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.
