Wiltshire – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works and Road Resurfacing

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) C8 (Part), Bishops Cannings and All Cannings; from its junction with Pig Lane to its junction with Allington Lane to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway retexturing work and other associated works. Alternative route via C8 (unaffected length) – C38 – Rushall Road – Pewsey Road – A342 – A361 – C8 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00 until 16 December 2025. B) B4039 (Part), Nettleton; from its junction with C161 for a distance of approximately 482m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4039 (unaffected length) – B4040 – A46 – A420 – C153 – B4039 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. C) C244 (Part), Poulshot; from its junction with Mill Lane to its junction with Byde Mill Lane to enable Openreach to carry out 1m of duct in soft, 12m of duct in carriageway and to construct a modular number 4 box. Alternative route via A361 – C20 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required for 3 days. E) C8 (Part), Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its junction with Pewsey Road to its junction with Hare Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway retuxering and associated works. Alternative route via C52 – A345 – C38 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 12 December 2025. F) Chandlers Lane (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with West End for a distance of approximately 210m in a southerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out vegetation management activities and other associated works. Alternative route via Chandlers Lane (unaffected length) – Horton Road – A361 – West End and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. G) C74 (Part), Great Bedwyn; from its junction with Browns Lane to its junction with UC 256601.
H) C74 (Part), Great Bedwyn; from its junction with Browns Lane to its junction with C197 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out retuxering and associated works. Alternative route via C74 (unaffected length) – A338 – C192 – C74 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 12 December 2025. I) A346 (Part), Burbage, Savernake and Marlborough; from its junction with Marlborough Road to its junction with Blenheim Road to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing, replacement of existing road markings, adjustment of ironwork and associated works. Alternative route light vehicles via A346 (unaffected length) – B3087 – A345 – A4 – A346 (unaffected length) and vice versa. Alternative route HGV via A346 (unaffected length) – A338 – A342 – A361 – A4 – A346 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 12 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 for 4 nights. J) The Parade (Part), Marlborough; from its junction with Kennet Place for a distance of approximately 40m in a westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out excavate to lay 2m duct. Alternative route via The Parade (unaffected length) – New Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 09 December 2025, and the closure will be required for 3 days. K) C86 (Part), Biddestone; from its junction with A420 for a distance of approximately 529m in a south westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway retexturing works and other associated works. Alternative route via C89 (unaffected length) – Cuttle Lane – A420 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required for 5 days. L) UC 047501, Hilmarton; from its junction with UC 047502 to its junction with UC 047602 to enable Openreach to carry out new pole installation work and other associated works. Alternative route via UC 047602 – C15 – UC 047502 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 until 12 December 2025. Alternative route via Vale Road – A345 – C52 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 09 December 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 15 December 2025. N) C6 (Part), Mildenhall; from its junction with Sound Copse Lane to its junction with Thickets Road to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out retexturing. Alternative route via C6 (unaffected length) – A4 – B4192 – C6 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and closure will be required for 4 days. Orders A) to N) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

A) Footpath 6 (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with A361 to its junction with Footpath 8, Bishops Cannings. B) Footpath 8 (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Footpath 6, Bishops Cannings to its junction with Horton Road to enable temporary closure to allow works on electricity supply network. No alternative route is available. The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order which was due to expire on 09 December 2025 will now continue in force until 09 December 2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is earliest.
