Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions due to Infrastructure, Utility and Safety Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Rayne Path, Pitsea) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Rayne Path, Pitsea in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with the housing line at number 17 to the Market Path approximately 70 meters.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 06 December 2025 to 06 June 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while a new community diagnostic centre is being built.

The alternative route will be via Maydells Court, Wickford Avenue, Northlands Pavement and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 06 December 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ashingdon Road, Rochford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Ashingdon Road, Rochford in the District of Rochford, from a point approximately 25m north east of its junction with Oxford Road for a distance of approximately 65m in a north easterly direction.

  2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

The Essex County Council (Rochford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2018 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions in the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/restriction are scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 20 nights (19:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2395515 — Essex County Council). Closures could dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure/restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while traffic signal renewal works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The alternative route will be via Ashingdon Road, Lower Road, Hullbridge Road, Rawreth Lane, A127, Rochford Road, Southend Road, Barling Way and vice versa.

(Badger Hall Avenue, Thundersley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Badger Hall Avenue, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Kiln Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th January 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC300477478944 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while service replacement works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via A13, Glenmere Park Avenue and vice versa (with access only into Badger Hall Avenue, Badgers Way).

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Basildon Drive, Laindon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Basildon Drive, Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with St Nicholas Drive for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 31st January 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40004406029 – Redbrooks Services Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while speed bump rebuilding works are undertaken by Redbrooks Services Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Basildon Drive, Holst Avenue, High Road, B148 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Common Approach, Thundersley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Common Approach, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Hart Road to its junction with Great Bensons Road a distance of approximately 245m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2396677 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage investigation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Hart Road, Rayleigh Downs Ride, Grandview Road, Great Bensons Road, Crescent Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cumberland Avenue, South Benfleet)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cumberland Avenue, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with South View Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311001WGJTHW2D – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while spine cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via South View Road, B1006, Cumberland Avenue and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Curling Tye, Fryerns) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Curling Tye, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 10m north east of its junction with Curling Walk for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGKHR4HG – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Curling Tye, Bonnygate, The Hatherley, Curling Tye and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Grange Road, Great Burstead and South Green)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Grange Road, Great Burstead and South Green in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with The Willows for a distance of approximately 35m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M159056 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway remedial works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Grange Road, Southend Road, Mill Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Long Lynderswood & ECN10047 (Hempstalls), Laindon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Long Lynderswood, Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with ECN10047 for a distance of approximately 65m in a north westerly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of ECN10047 (Hempstalls), Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with ECN10005 for a distance of approximately 65m in a south westerly direction.

The footway/cycle lane closures are scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 1 week, or where stated on a valid permit (EC3007956809B & EC30047099136 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The footway/cycle lane closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while new electricity supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via ECN10047, ECN10005, Long Lynderswood, Cressells, Laindon Link and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oak Road, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oak Road, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 310m north east of its junction with Hardings Elms Road for a distance of approximately 120m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013336693 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Gardiners Lane North, London Road, Crays Hill, Hardings Elms Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of a 40 MPH Speed Restriction)

(Streetworks No.1) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 40mph speed restriction on those lengths of road in the District of Rochford and Borough of Castle Point, as detailed in the Schedule. The works are scheduled to commence after 11th December 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway excavation works are undertaken by Bahan Solar Ltd.

The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Woodham Park Drive, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Linnet Drive for a distance of approximately 55m in a south westerly than westerly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Linnet Drive, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Woodham Park Drive for a distance of approximately 45m in an easterly then south easterly direction.

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Woolards Way, South Woodham Ferrers in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 10m north west of its junction with Pertwee Drive for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th January 2026 for 29 days, where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGW0718L – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.     Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Blackwood Chine, South Woodham Ferrers in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 85m north east from its junction with Broughton Road for a distance of approximately 15m in a north westerly direction.     (Church Road, Vange) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Vange in the Basildon District, from its junction with Osbourne Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to continue from 1st December 2025 for 5 nights – (20:00 – 06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (XJ0021207654WHP-RB2 – Hutchison 3G Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole installation works are undertaken by Hutchison 3G Ltd.

    The alternative route is via: Church Road, Long Riding, Southernhay, Clay Hill Road, Church Road and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 1st December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) & (Pitsea Bypass, Bowers Gifford)

    (Temporary Closure of Directional Right-Hand Lanes) (No. 12) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the Borough of Castle Point and Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule.

    2. To temporarily close the directional right-hand lanes from Pitsea Bypass, Bowers Gifford in the Borough of Basildon into Canvey Way, Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point.

    3. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

    “The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

    “The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

    The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 27th November 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
