Hertfordshire: Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Tring, Flamstead, Markyate - Temporary Closure of Roads

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS
IN VARIOUS ROADS IN BERKHAMSTED, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD AND TRING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of Crossways, Berkhamsted from its junction with Shootersway north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. that length of Greenway, Berkhamsted from its junction with Cross Oak Road north westwards, south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Orchard Avenue, a distance of approximately 408m.

An alternative route will be via Cross Oak Road, Shrubland Road, Durrants Road, Bourne Road, Tresco Road, Ridgeway and Greenway.

3. that length of Hawthorn Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Boxted Road south westwards to its junction with Hollybush Lane, a distance of approximately 365m. An alternative route will be via Boxted Road, Long Chaulden and Hollybush Lane.

4. that length of Longfield Gardens, Tring from its junction with Longfield Road north westwards, south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 112m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

5. that length of Manor Road/Bettys Lane, Tring from its junction with Dundale Road north eastwards to its junction with Silk Mill Way, a distance of approximately 352m.

An alternative route will be via Dundale Road, Frogmore Street, B4635 High Street, B486 Brook Street and Silk Mill Way.

6. that length of Miswell Lane, Tring from its junction with B488 Icknield Way south eastwards to its junction with B4635 Aylesbury Road, a distance of approximately 841m.

An alternative route will be via B488 Icknield Way and B4635 Aylesbury Road.

7. that length of Tresco Road, Berkhamsted from its easternmost junction with Ridgeway north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 326m.

An alternative route will be via Ridgeway.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PIX FARM LANE,
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pix Farm Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Westbrook Drive south eastwards for a distance of approximately 70m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Pix Farm Lane, Little Heath Lane, A4251 London Road, Fishery Road, Northridge Way, Chaulden Lane, Pouchen End Lane and Pix Farm Lane.

The Order is needed because water connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A4251 LONDON ROAD,
BERKHAMSTED/BOURNE END) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of A4251 London Road, Berkhamsted/Bourne End from its junction with Swing Gate Lane south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 3396m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A4251 (London Road/High Street/ Gossoms End/High Street/ Tring Road) and A41 (unnamed road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LATIMER CLOSE,
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Latimer Close, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Shenley Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because sewer repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B486 WINGRAVE ROAD, TRING)
ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B486 Wingrave Road, Tring from its junction with B486 New Mill Terrace north westwards for a distance of approximately 13m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B486 (New Mill Terrace/Wingrave Road/Brook Street), B4635 (High Street/Western Road/Aylesbury Road), B488 Icknield Way and B486 Wingrave Road. The Order is needed because remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHAD LANE, FLAMSTEAD)
ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chad Lane, Flamstead from its junction with Old Watling Street north eastwards to its junction with Flamstead Public Footpath No.010, a distance of approximately 212m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Old Watling Street, A5183 (London Road/Dunstable Road), B4540 (Luton Road/Markyate Road), Front Street, Pepsal End Lane, C156 (unnamed road) and Chad Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HICKS ROAD, MARKYATE)
ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hicks

Road, Markyate from a point 105m north east of its junction with The Ridings north eastwards for a distance of approximately 150m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Hicks Road, A5183 Dunstable Road, B4540 (Luton Road/Markyate Road), Front Street, Pepsal End Lane, Windmill Road and Hicks Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
