Maldon and Chelmsford, Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works and Infrastructure Maintenance
What is happening?

(Footpath 39, Heybridge)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 39, Heybridge in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 307 metres west of Wharf Road west to its junction with Osea Road.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10 December 2025 to 5 April 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce for the refurbishment of Environmental Agency flood gates along the flood wall. This will be at various locations along the flood wall between Wharf Road and Osea Road.
Alternative route: Footpath 10, Footpath 11, Footpath 12, Footpath 13 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 10 December 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Lilian Road, Burnham-on-Crouch in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 70m south of its junction with Devonshire Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th January 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M163428 — Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via Lilian Road, B1021, Devonshire Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maple Way, Burnham-on-Crouch in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Poplar Grove to its junction with Holly Close a distance of approximately 65m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGK1R5V – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while spine cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Maple Way, B1010 Springfield Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Tudwick Road, Tolleshunt D’Arcy in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 575m north east of the junction of Tudwick Hall Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M158117 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter maintenance works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via B1023, B1026, Beckingham Road, Tolleshunt D’Arcy Road, Tudwick Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of White Elm Road, Bicknacre in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 100m east of its junction with Peartree Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001457752 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.
(Brook Road, Tolleshunt Knights)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brook Road, Tolleshunt Knights in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Factory Hill to its junction with Knights Close a distance of approximately 140m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th December 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (ZP001N0007403-2-A-KI — Gas Transportation Company). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by Gas Transportation Company.
An alternative route is available via Brook Road, Barnhall Road, B1026, B1023 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 27th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Lodge Road, Bicknacre in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 615m south west then north west of its junction with Main Road for a distance of approximately 75m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th December 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30300100830 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Main Road, Leighams Road and vice versa. (with access only into Lodge Road).
The Order came into effect on 27th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Streetworks No.3) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Maldon as detailed in the Schedule.
The works are scheduled to commence after 27th November 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services.
Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce during micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.
The Order came into effect on 27th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
