What is happening?

TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(COMMON LANE, SUNDON)
(TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from stopping or waiting along the full length of Common Lane, Sundon.

This temporary no stopping or waiting is required to enable rising main replacement work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the no stopping or waiting will be in force from 5 January to 29 May 2026. The order will be in operation at all times until the proposed works have been completed.

Any vehicles found to be in contravention of this order will be removed from the public highway and stored until the registered owner arranges collection.

The Order will come into operation on 5 January for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS IN SUNDON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the following roads/lengths of road in Harlington Road, Sundon and Streatley Road, Sundon

a)  From 55 Harlington Road to Streatley Road

b)  from Tythe farm bus stop to Harlington Road

These temporary closures are required to enable rising main replacement work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place on Harlington Road from 5 January to 6 February and Streatley Road from 5 January to 29 May 2026. The roads will be closed at all times during this period. Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time. Please note both roads wont be closed at the same time.

The alternative routes for these closures, where available, are:Streatley Rd, Church Rd, Manor Rd and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 5 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(HARLINGTON ROAD, TODDINGTON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Harlington Road, Toddington between Border of farm to metal gated entrance of farm dirt track.

This temporary closure is required to enable Reconstruct Footpath and repairs to embankment work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 12 January to 20 March 2026 between the hours of 8am and 5pm. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via B530, B579, B5120 and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 12 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(CADDINGTON: PART OF FOOTPATH NOS. 6, 7 AND 8)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the lengths of:

I.   Footpath No. 6, Caddington which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0534 2082 to OS GR TL 0530 2104.

II.  Footpath No. 7, Caddington which extends from OS GR TL 0534 2082 to OS GR TL 0498 2148 to OS GR TL 0505 2108.

III. Footpath No. 8, Caddington which extends from OS GR TL 0530 2104 to OS GR TL 0549 2143.

These temporary closures are required for the reconstruction of eight golf holes. The closures are expected to take place from 15 December 2025 for up to six months.

For Footpath No. 6, Caddington, the alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0534 2082 along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0515 2107 then continues along Footpath No. 7, Caddington to OS GR TL 0530 2104.

For Footpath No. 7, Caddington, the alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation extends from OS GR TL 0534 2082 along a temporary footpath to

OS GR TL 0515 2107 then continues along Footpath No. 7, Caddington to OS GR TL 0505 2108 then continues along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0489 2111 then continues along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0498 2148.

For Footpath No. 8, Caddington, the first alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation extends from OS GR TL 0530 2104 along a permissive path when construction volume permits to OS GR TL 0560 2109 then continues along highway extent to OS GR TL 0559 2119 then continues along Footpath No. A8, Caddington and Footpath No. 46, Caddington to OS GR TL 0549 2143.

For Footpath No. 8, Caddington, the second alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation extends from OS GR TL 0530 2104 along Footpath No. 7, Caddington to OS GR TL 0505 2108 then continues along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0489 2111 then continues along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0498 2148 then continues along a temporary footpath to OS GR TL 0536 2161 then continues along Footpath No. 47, Caddington and Footpath No. 46, Caddington to OS GR TL 0549 2143.

The Order will come into operation on 15 December 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpaths have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE
A TWO-WAY CYCLE LANE ON FRENCHS AVENUE, DUNSTABLE

Reason for proposal: The proposed cycle lane aims to improve safety and accessibility for cyclists, encourage sustainable travel, and support the Council’s active travel objectives.

Effect of the Order

To introduce two-way cycle lane on the following road in Dunstable:-

Frenchs Avenue From its junction with High Street North/Watling Street to its junction with National Cycle Route 6 (from Creasey Park Drive to Frenchs Avenue) – cycles permitted to travel in both directions.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INSTALL
TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES ON FRENCHS AVENUE, DUNSTABLE

Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 90 A-I of the Highways Act 1980 and all other enabling powers, propose to construct a raised table on Frenchs Avenue, Dunstable. These proposals are part of a wider scheme to encourage sustainable travel, reduce traffic speeds and create a safer environment for all road users.

A raised table at a nominal height of 75mm, with a flat top approximately 9 metres long and ramps approximately 2.1 metres long and at a ratio of 12:1 is proposed to be sited at the following location in Dunstable:

1.  Frenchs Avenue, northern side of the carriageway and centered approximately at a point in line with the common property boundary between No. 16 and No. 18 Frenchs Avenue.
