What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
THROUGH TRAFFIC
Part of Marton Road, Bridlington

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the
date of this notice to make an Order, the effect of
which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding
along part of Marton Road, Bridlington between its
junctions with Watsons Avenue to Marton Avenue
commencing 5 January 2026 until 13 February 2026
for the purpose of high profile gas mains
reinforcement work.
The road closure is necessary to enable the works to
be carried out in a manner consistent with
ensuring the safety of the public. The Order is valid for
18 months, but it is anticipated that the works will be
completed within 40 days.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the road
closure will be via: B1255 Marton Road, B1255 Marton
Road Roundabout, B1254 Sewerby Heads,
B1254 Sewerby Road Roundabout, B1254 Fortyfoot,
Queensgate, Queensgate Roundabout, B1423 St John
Street, B1423 Scarborough Road South, Bridlington CP,
Bridlington Central and Old Town Ward, Bridlington
South Ward, Bridlington North Ward.
The diversion route will be signed at the time of
closure.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but access
will be maintained for residents, emergency vehicles
and pedestrians.
