What is happening?

Notice of the making of a Definitive Map Modification Order, The North Yorkshire Council, Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, Bridleway 15.7/51 Eight Acre Lane & Eight Acre Woods, Azerley, & Bridleway 15.102/23 Eight Acre Woods to Cockshaw Bank Lane, North Stainley with Sleningford, Modification Order 2025

The above Order, made on 21/11/25, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map & Statement for the area by upgrading to Bridleway Footpath 15.7/13 along Eight Acre Lane & into Eight Acre Woods between grid references SE25907432 & SE26607382 & add a Bridleway through Eight Acre Woods to Cockshaw Bank Lane between grid references SE26607382 & SE27477368. A copy of the Order as made & the Order Map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at Ripon library, The Arcade, Ripon, HG4 1AG, North Yorkshire, until 22/01/26. Copies of the Order & Map may be purchased from Countryside Access Service, North Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8AD (tel: 03001312131) at a cost of £2.00, or can be downloaded free from our website

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to Robert Light, Countryside Access Service, North Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8AD, or email

no later than 22/01/26, stating the grounds on which it is made. Please note that objections/representations cannot be treated as confidential & may come into the public domain. Copies of any objections or representations received may be disclosed to interested parties, including the Planning Inspectorate where the case is referred to it for determination. If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or to any part of it, or if any so made are withdrawn, The North Yorkshire Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State or part of it if the Authority has by notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 may itself confirm the Order or that part of the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, in whole or in part, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
