Braintree - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Infrastructure Works
What is happening?

(Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Braintree Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a south easterly then easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03167002889/1 – Anglian Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stoptap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Alienor Avenue, Braintree Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Blunts Hall Road, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Blunts Hall Road, Witham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Highfields Road to its junction with Dancing Dicks Lane a distance approximately 1910m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2385814A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Highfields Road, Spa Road, Powers Hall End, Terling Road, Witham Road, Dancing Dicks Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Hill/Church Street, Kelvedon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Hill/Church Street, Kelvedon in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 105m north west of the junction of Thorne Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th January 2026 for 1 night (20:00–06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL735LTN1-41-52-110126 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while inspection works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Church Street, B1024, A12, B1389, B1018, Long Green, Ashes Road, The Street, Church Road, Temple Lane, Western Road, Parkgate Road, Hollow Road, Church Hill and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Lane, Braintree and Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Lane, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Bradford Street to its junction with Church Meadows a distance of approximately 570m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388511 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Church Lane, Deanery Hill, Panfield Lane, Aetheric Road, Pierrefitte Way, High Street, St Michaels Road, South Street, Railway Street, Coggeshall Road – Railway Street Junction, Courtauld Road, Bradford Street, Broad Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Street, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of One Way) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Church Street, Witham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Chipping Hill for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction.
To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in that length of Church Street, Witham from its junction with Chalks Road for a distance of approximately 170m in a southerly direction as detailed in “The Essex County Council (Various Streets, Witham) (One-Way Traffic And Prohibition And Restriction Of Waiting) (Variation) Order 1984” for the duration of the above closure only for access.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 7th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02281401079 – TM Browne LTD). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while scaffolding & painting works are undertaken by TM Browne LTD.
An alternative route is available via Chipping Hill, B1018, Chalks Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Guithavon Street/Guithavon Valley, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Guithavon Street, Witham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Guithavon Valley for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.
To temporarily close that length of Guithavon Valley, Witham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Guithavon Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 21 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001455297 & AZ5011001455299 – Cadent).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
An alternative route is available via Mill Lane, B1389, B1018, Newlands Drive and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Rectory Lane, Rivenhall) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Rectory Lane, Rivenhall in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Forest Road to its junction with Rickstones Road a distance of approximately 565m.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th January 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387020 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Forest Road, Rickstones Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
