What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
Whitbarrow Road & Bridgewater Street (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: Bridgewater St from Boat Stage to Whitbarrow Rd; Whitbarrow Rd from its junction with Brookfield Rd/Dane Bank Rd to Whitbarrow Rd. The Order will be effective from 15th December 2025 for 1 day, between 9:30am & 3:30pm, as & when signed on site, however if unforeseen circumstances are encountered the works may run over into a second day. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works & local access to residential/business properties will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians & cyclists wishing to pass beneath the aqueduct will be marshalled by the relevant Contractor. The alternative route will be via Brookfield Rd, Eagle Brow & vice versa. The closures are required to allow overhanging vegetation to be removed from the aqueduct & replacement of the bridge height warning signs on both approaches.
