Warrington – Multiple Temporary Road and Footpath Closures due to Utility and Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Capesthorne Rd (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: Capesthorne Rd from its jct. with Caldbeck Ave to its jct. with Poplars Ave; Capesthorne Rd from its jct. with Poplars Ave to its jct. with Barrow Ave. The Order will be effective from 7pm on 2nd February 2026 to 5am on 3rd February 2026. The alternative route will be via Festival Ave, Statham Ave, Poplars Ave & vice versa & via Greenwood Cres, Poplars Ave & vice versa. The closures are required to allow Vodafone to replace a telecom pole.

Chaffinch Cl Segregated Footpath (Footpath Closure) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce a footpath closure on Chaffinch Cl Segregated Footpath outside properties 17 to 19. The Order will be effective from 2nd February 2026 for 3 days. The alternative route will be via Chaffinch Cl. The closure is required to allow Openreach to renew a footpath box.

Church Rd, Brookfield Rd & Lakeside Rd (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows:
Church Rd from the jct. with Elm Tree Rd to the jct. with Rectory Ln; Brookfield Rd from Church Rd for 50m; Lakeside Rd from Church Rd for 50m. The Order will be effective from 2nd February 2026 for 6 weeks, between 9:30am & 3:30pm (footway works) & 7pm to 1am (road works). The alternative route will be via Eagle Brow, The Cross, Rectory Ln & vice versa. The closure is required for carriageway & footway resurfacing.

Heath Rd, Penketh (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Heath Rd from its jct. with Holly Terrace to its jct. with Phythian Cres. The Order will be effective from 31st January 2026 for 1 day. The alternative route will be via Heath Rd, Conronate Dr & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Openreach to replace a telecom pole.

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Rowland Cl fronting properties 28 to 32. The Order will be effective from 19th January 2026 for 3 days, between 9:30am & 2:30pm. The closure is required to allow Openreach to install new ducting.

(Prohibition of Driving & Footpath Closure) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Driving: Newfield Rd from its jct. with Booths Hill Rd to its jct. with Daisy Bank Rd; Daisy Bank Rd from its jct. with Barsbank Rd to its jct. with Moston Gr; Moston Gr from its jct. with Daisy Bank Rd to outside 24 Moston Gr; Barsbank Ln from its jct. with Booths Hill Rd to its jct. with Daisy Bank Rd.

Footpath Closure: Moston Gr Segregated Footpath fronting properties 14 to 24. The Order will be effective from 2nd February 2026 for 7 weeks, with the works being carried out in phases. The alternative routes will be as follows:
Newfield Rd via Booths Hill Rd, Barsbank Ln, Daisy Bank Rd & vice versa; Woodland Dr via Barsbank Ln, Booths Hill Rd, Newfield Rd & vice versa; Barsbank Ln via Booths Hill Rd, Camsley Ln, Warrington Rd & vice versa; Moston Gr Segregated Footpath an alternative route will be signed on site. The restrictions are required to allow Scottish Power to install a new High Voltage Cable.

Various Rd’s in Birchwood (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce the following:
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Entire lengths of road: Armstrong Cl; Chaffinch Cl; Cubin Cl; Dove Cl; Dunley Cl; Stanmore Cl; Part length of road: Warrington Rd from the jct. with Garrett Field the jct. with Delenty Dr;

Glover Rd from the jct. with Carrington Cl to the jct. with the access to Locking Stumps Community Primary School;

Warrington Rd full length of residential spur road off A574 (No. 680 to No. 700). The Order will be effective from 2nd February 2026, for 9 weeks, between 8:30am & 5:30pm. The alternative route for Glover Rd will be via Birchwood Park Ave & vice versa. The restrictions are required for road or footway resurfacing.

Whitethroat Walk, Birchwood (Footpath Closure) Temporary Order 2025
The effect of which will be to introduce a footpath closure on Whitethroat Walk outside properties 34 to 42 & 43. The Order will be effective from 2nd February 2026 for 3 days. An alternative route will be signed on site. The closure is required to allow Openreach to install a new connection.

Kerfoot St (Prohibition of Driving) (BSIP Phase 4) Temporary Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on Kerfoot St from its jct. with Winwick Rd to its jct. with Folly Ln. The Order will be effective from 8th December 2025. The restrictions will be carried out in phases as follows:
Phase 1: 8th December 2025 for 2 weeks, between 7pm & 6am
Phase 2: 5th January 2026 for 8 weeks, between 7pm & 6am.
The alternative route will be via Folly Ln, Bewsey Rd, Lovely Ln, Winwick St, Pinners Brow, Winwick Rd & vice versa. The reason for the restrictions are as follows:
Phase 1: To install a new electric main
Phase 2: To allow for resurfacing works to be carried out associated with BSIP.

The temporary restrictions will be in place as & when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
