THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY
(PARKER STREET, BOND STREET, BURY)
TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:
1. Parker Street, Bury – from Heywood Street to a point 75m in a north westerly direction
2. Bond Street, Bury – between Queen Street & Rochdale Road
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate highway improvement works and delivery of the Fishpool and Pimhole Bee Active Travel Scheme.
The alternate routes will be:
1. Via Heywood Street, Mason Street, Lord Street & vice versa
2. Eastbound – Wash Lane, Rochdale Road
Westbound – Rochdale Road, Derby Way, Moorgate, Bell Lane & Wash Lane
The proposed Order will come into operation on 05/01/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately up to 9 weeks.

PROPOSED NEW ZEBRA CROSSING – SUNNYBANK ROAD - UNSWORTH
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police for Greater Manchester, proposes to install a Zebra Crossing at the following location not less than 28 days from the date of this notice.
Sunnybank Road – Unsworth – Zebra Crossing – just west of the junction of Bloomfield Drive (East). A copy of the proposals, a plan showing the location of the proposed Zebra Crossing and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the proposal may be requested by email at traffic.calming@bury.gov.uk quoting reference PC/111.
All representations whether in support or objecting to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made must be made in writing and sent to the Traffic Team, Bury Council, Bradley Fold Depot, 34, Bradley Fold Road, Ainsworth, Radcliffe, Bury, BL2 6RS or preferably by email to TROobjections@bury.gov.uk quoting ref: PC/111 by 1st January 2026.
Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE & BUS PARKING PLACE ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to:
prohibit any vehicles from proceeding along:
Market Street, Bury – between Angouleme Way & 50m south of Wellington Road to introduce the Bus Parking Place, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday (at all times);
Wellington Road, Bury – Northerly side, from a point 114m east of the easterly kerbline of Market Street for a distance of 104m in an easterly direction and southerly side, from a point 134m east of the easterly kerbline of Market Street for a distance of 50m in an easterly direction
The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate highway improvement works and delivery of the Fishpool and Pimhole Bee Active Travel Scheme
The alternate routes will be:
Wellington Road, Manchester Road, Knowsley Street, Angouleme Way & vice versa
OR
Parkhills Road, Manchester Road – relevant diversions will be in place dependant on phase of works
The proposed Order will come into operation on 05/01/2026 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately up to 24 weeks.
