Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A2 GLA Road (Blackheath Hill, Royal Borough of Greenwich and The London Borough of Lewisham) (Temporary Banned Turn and Prohibition of Traffic and Stopping) Order 2025

  1. Transport for London having consulted the London Borough of Tower Hamlets hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

  2. The purpose of the Order is to enable water main installation works to take place on the A1205 Burdett Road.

  3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

    (1) entering, exiting or proceeding in a westerly direction on St Paul’s Way between its junctions with Wallwood Street and Burdett Road;

    (2) proceeding from the western arm of St Paul’s Way to the eastern arm of St Paul’s Way at their junctions with Burdett Road;

    (3) turning right from western arm of St Paul’s Way into Burdett Road;

    (4) turning right from Burdett Road into the eastern arm of St Paul’s Way;

    (5) turning right from Burdett Road into the western arm of St Paul’s Way.

    The Order will be effective each day between 7:00 AM on 19th December 2025 and 7:00 PM on 28th February 2026 or when the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such time and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

    (1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

    (2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

  5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via: (northbound banned right turn) Burdett Road, Bow Common Lane and Eric Street to normal route of travel; (southbound banned right turn) Burdett Road, Pixley Street, Copenhagen Place and Agnes Street to normal route of travel; (St Paul’s Way westbound closure) Bow Common Lane, Upper North Street, East India Dock Road and Burdett Road to normal route of travel; (St Paul’s Way eastbound closure) Stepney High Street, Stepney Way, Jubilee Street, Commercial Road and Upper North Street to normal route of travel.
