Knitsley Lane, Templetown, County Durham - Temporary Road Closure due to Water Main Installation Works

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. A 122 metres length of Unc 11.4 Knitsley Lane, Templetown from approximately 30 metres from the entrance to Fern Cottage extending northwards for 122 metres to enable new water main installation works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of closure, a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of closure in a northerly direction on Knitsley Lane, then north west on Alwyn Gardens Rear, then west A692 Rotary Way, then west on A692 Consett Road then south on road from The Grove to Knitsley, then north on Knitsley Lane to southern end of closure and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence at 8am on Monday 5/1/2026 and are anticipated to be completed in 40 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
