Workington - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2460 CHRISTIAN STREET, NOOK STREET AND BANK ROAD, WORKINGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

U2460 Christian Street, Workington, from its junction with Ramsay Brow, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 40m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Christian Street, Portland Square, Cavendish Street and Ramsay Brow.
Duration: From 5 January 2026 for approx. 5 days between 0800 and 1800 hours each day

Nook Street, Workington, from its junction with Ritson Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 50m to its junction with Rosemary Lane.
Alternative Route for Northeast Bound Vehicles: via Washington Street, and Jane Street.
Duration: From 13 January 2026 for approx. 3 days between 0700 and 1900 hours each day

Bank Road, Workington, from its junction with Guard Street, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Bank Road, Banklands, Mason Street, B5296 Harrington Road, and A596 Guard Street.
Duration: From 18 January 2026 for approx. 1 day between 0800 and 1800 hours

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 5 January 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
