Poole Road, Upton - Temporary Road Closure due to Highway Improvement Works

What is happening?

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Poole Road, Upton

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 12th January 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 5th April 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out highway improvement works.

The effect of this Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary southbound road closure on Poole Road, Upton from Upton Gateway Roundabout to the junction of Poole Road access to Upton Country Park as indicated by signs on site;
[ii] To impose a temporary no right turn on Poole Road, Upton as indicated by signs on site;
[iii] To impose a temporary road closure overnight on Poole Road, Upton as indicated by signs on site;
[iv] To impose a clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Poole Road, Upton.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section. Additionally, temporary traffic signals are anticipated to be in place on Poole Road, Upton to maintain access and egress for Upton Country Park.
