What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (BRIDLEWAY 16 AND BRIDLEWAY 118, CHEADLE AND GATLEY) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Closure of the full length of Bridleway 16 Cheadle and Gatley, between Hall Moss Lane and Highfield Parkway, and the full length of Bridleway 118 Cheadle and Gatley, between Hall Moss Lane and Bridleway 16 CG, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said bridleways. This Order is necessary to allow for works on the junctions on the bridleways to take place. It is estimated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months. A diversion will be provided via; Hall Moss Lane, Moor Lane, Jenny Lane and Woodford Road. Pedestrians may use an alternative via Footpath 13 Hazel Grove and Bramhall, Footpath 10 Cheadle and Gatley, Footpath 26 Cheadle and Gatley, and Moss Lane. This Order is to come into operation on 5 January 2026 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
