Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make
the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable.​ (PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow Section 278 works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable from turning right, from 21:00 hours on 18th December 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 19th December 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Turning right will be prohibited from A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable into Harrier Lodge Care Home, as indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for access is via A2990 Thanet Way, full circle around the Whitstable Heights roundabout and back onto A2990 Thanet Way.



Castle Road, Whitstable, CT5 2DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Castle Road, Whitstable from 16th December 2025 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Northwood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Castle Road, B2205 Tankerton Road, Tower Parade, Northwood Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Cromwell Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow investigation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cromwell Road, Whitstable from 22:00 hours on 19th December 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 20th December 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 237 and 221, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street and Harbour Street.

The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via B2205 Harbour Street, High Street, Oxford Street and Cromwell Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Eddington Lane & Nurserylands, Herne Bay.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Eddington Lane & Nurserylands, Herne Bay from 15th December 2025 with estimated completion by 16th December 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 19:00, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for Eddington Lane is via Eddington Lane, Eddington Way, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, B2205 Canterbury Road and vice versa.

There is no alternative route for Nurserylands, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Seymour Place, Canterbury, CT1 3SE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Seymour Place, Canterbury from 15th December 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with A28 Wincheap and number 2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6TE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay from 15th December 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Neville Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Heart In Hand Road, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill, Reculver Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The List, Wickhambreaux, CT3 1RX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The List, Wickhambreaux from 16th December 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd December 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Wickhambreaux Lodge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The List, The Street, Wickham Road, Grove Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
