Cumberland - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.16) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 8 January 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

U2206 Wythop Mill, Embleton – From 8 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16654)
From its junction with the C2027, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 60m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2206, U2205 and C2027.
C2024 Oughterside – From 12 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16656)
From a point adjacent to the property known as Oughterside Mill Cottage, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 140m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2024, C2023 and A596.
U2108 Ruthwaite – From 14 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0930 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16741)
From its junction with the C2011, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
U2106 Whitrigg – From 14 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16673)
From its junction with the U2107, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 280m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2106, U2103, A595, A591 and U2107.
C2027 Eaglesfield – From 19 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16830)
From its junction with the U2192, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 80m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2027, A5086, U194 and C2032.
U2315 The Green, Little Broughton – From 19 January 2026 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours (Ref: TTROC/16829)
From a point adjacent to the property known as Rose Garth, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 50m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
