What is happening?
PUBLIC NOTICE
THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL
(WINDMILL LANE) (TEMPORARY WEIGHT
RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, under which the weight restriction on County Bridge, Windmill Lane, Wolverhampton, is reduced from 18 tonnes to 7.5 tonnes.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen months, and it is anticipated that the Order will operate from 16th December 2026 until 15th June 2027.
The Order is required as the structure no longer meets the design threshold for the current 18 tonne weight restriction. Following further analysis and expert advice, it has been recommended to lower the weight restriction to 7.5T, to reduce the risk of the bridge failing whilst further investigation works and repairs are
undertaken.
