What is happening?

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A2 GLA Road (Blackheath Hill, Royal Borough of Greenwich and The London Borough of Lewisham) (Temporary Banned Turn and Prohibition of Traffic and Stopping) Order 2025

  1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

  2. The purpose of the Order is to enable property development associated works to take place at Blackheath Hill in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Lewisham.

  3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

    (1) stopping at the southern kerb-line of Blackheath Hill between its junctions with Maidenstone Hill and Hollymount Close;

    (2) entering the Blackheath Business Estate and the access Road to Nos. 80 to 82 Blackheath Hill from Blackheath Hill;

    (3) turning right into the Blackheath Business Estate and the access Road to Nos. 80 to 82 Blackheath Hill from Blackheath Hill.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 7.00 AM on the 8th December 2025 until 7.00 PM on the 7th March 2026 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  1. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

    (1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

    (2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

  2. At such times as the prohibitions are in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via Blackheath Hill, Shooters Hill Road, Roundabout at the junction of Shooters Hill Road and Prince Charles Road and Blackheath Hill to normal route of travel.
