Arlecdon and Frizington - Temporary Footpath Closure due to Sinkhole and Fume Investigation
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 401004 IN THE PARISH OF ARLECDON AND FRIZINGTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to a sink hole appearing in the surface of the track and escaping fumes and to enable subsequent investigation and repair work to be carried out, Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along an approx. 460m length of Public Footpath No. 401004 in the Parish of Arlecdon and Frizington, between grid references 303678 517526 and 304063 517275.
There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians.
This follows an emergency notice dated 19 November 2025.

The Order will come into operation on 10 December 2025 and may continue in force for a period of up to six months from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
