Cumberland - Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL
(C4010 ST BEES AND U4016 ARLECDON)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. C4010 St Bees, from its junction with High House Road, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with the C4008.
Alternative Route: via the C4008, Outrigg Road, B5345 Main Street, and High House Road.
Duration: From 5 January 2026 for approx. 26 days (Ref: TTROC/16702)

2. U4016 Arlecdon, from its junction with the U4013, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 870m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U4016, Arlecdon Road, Barwise Row, A5086 and the U4013.
Duration: From 5 January 2026 for approx. 26 days (Ref: TTROC/16705)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 5 January 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
