What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
1. that length of Burton Lane, Goffs Oak from its junction with St James Road south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 650m.
An alternative route will be via St James Road, Newgatestreet Road, B156 Goffs Lane and Burton Lane.
2. that length of Rags Lane/Crouch Lane, Goffs Oak from its junction with Andrews Lane north eastwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 426m.
An alternative route will be via Andrews Lane, Rosedale Way, Peakes Way and Rags Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN HODDESDON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-
1. that length of Whitley Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with Stanstead Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via Stanstead Road, Old Highway and Whitley Road.
2. that length of Hawthorne Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with Stanstead Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via Stanstead Road, Lilac Road, Laburnum Road and Hawthorne Road.
3. that length of Kenning Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with Stanstead Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via Stanstead Road, Middlefield Road, Fairfield Road and Kenning Road.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ANDREWS LANE, GOFFS OAK) ORDER NO.5 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Andrews Lane, Goffs Oak from its junction with Great Groves south eastwards to its junction with Jubilee Close, a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Andrews Lane, Rags Lane, St James Road, Newgatestreet Road, B156 Goffs Lane, Rosedale Way and Andrews Lane.
The Order is needed because drainage connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PELHAM ROAD, BRAUGHING) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pelham Road, Braughing from its junction with Friars Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 83m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via The Street, Ford Street, B1386 (Green End/ Hay Street/ Dassels Hill/Dassels/unnamed road), B1038 (unnamed road/ Conduit Lane/Pump Hill), C15 (unnamed road), Ginns Road, The Wash, The Street, C107 (unnamed road), C15 (unnamed road), C35 (unnamed road), Patient End, Braughing Road and Pelham Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FRIARS ROAD, BRAUGHING) ORDER NO.3 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Friars Road, Braughing from a point in line with the western boundary of No.20 Friars Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 85m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE STREET, BRAUGHING) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Street, Braughing from its southernmost junction with The Square south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Ford Street, a distance of approximately 291m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via The Street, Pelham Road, Braughing Road, Patient End, C35 (unnamed road), C15 (unnamed road), Gravesend, Clapgate, Albury Road, Standon Road, A120 (Standon Road/Stortford Road/ Kents Lane), Station Road, High Street, Buntingford Road, B1368 (Wickham Hill/Station Road) and Fore Street.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 7 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CRIB STREET, WARE) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Crib Street, Ware from a point 38m north east of its junction with Church Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Crib Street, Church Street, A1170 (High Street/Baldock Road), The Bourne and Crib Street.
The Order is needed because utility connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN B158 BENGEO STREET, HERTFORD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B158 Bengeo Street, Hertford from its junction with Warren Park Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 215m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B158 (Port Hill/Cowbridge/Old Cross/Mill Bridge/The Wash/ Parliament Square/Castle Street), A414 (Gascoyne Way/ London Road/Rush Green), A10 (unnamed road), A602 Westmill Road and B158 (Wadesmill Road/Bengeo Street).
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN BRIDLEWAY, HODDESDON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bridleway, Hoddesdon from its junction with the A1170 Ware Road/ Plomer Avenue roundabout eastwards to its junction with the Bridleway North/Bridleway South roundabout, a distance of approximately 87m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via A1170 Ware Road, St Margarets Road, Stanstead Road and Bridleway North.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN CHESHUNT, HERTFORD AND WALTHAM CROSS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Dewhurst Road, Cheshunt from its junction with Churchgate Road north eastwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Church Lane, a distance of approximately 571m.
An alternative route will be via Churchgate Road, B156 Churchgate Road and Church Lane.
2. that length of Duncombe Road, Hertford from its junction with The Drive south westwards to its junction with Farquhar Street, a distance of approximately 461m.
An alternative route will be via The Drive, The Avenue, Church Road, Elton Road, Fanshawe Street and Farquhar Street.
3. that length of Sturlas Way, Waltham Cross from its junction with the A121 Winston Churchill Way/B176 High Street roundabout south westwards and southwards to its junction with Park Lane, a distance of approximately 248m.
An alternative route will be via A121 Monarchs Way, A1010 (Monarchs Way/ High Street), Lodge Crescent, Cameron Drive, Raglan Avenue and Park Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mill Lane, Watton at Stone from its junction with Whempstead Road north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Watton at Stone Public Bridleway No.005, a distance of approximately 954m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Whempstead Road, Whempstead Lane and Mill Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B156 Cuffley Hill, Goffs Oak from a point 100m south west of its junction with Robinson Avenue south westwards for a distance of approximately 70m (“the Road”).

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce various restrictions in parts of Waltham Cross Town Centre as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Friday 5 December 2025.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders may be viewed from 4 December 2025 to 15 January 2026 during office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/ trafficorders by selecting Broxbourne and looking at Ref: B00724.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders, or any of their provisions, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
SCHEDULE 1: Pedestrian Zone – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of Eleanor Cross Road, Eleanor Square, High Street and Park Lane.
SCHEDULE 2: Restricted Parking Zone – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of Eleanor Cross Road, Eleanor Square, High Street and Park Lane. The zone includes time limited and motorcycle only parking places operating 7pm to 7am Monday to Sunday, and time limited and motorcycle only parking places operating at all times apart from 7am to 7pm 1 hour maximum stay, no return within 1 hour, and disabled persons parking places operating at all times 3 hours maximum stay, no return within 2 hours
SCHEDULE 3: 7.5 Tonnes Weight Restriction – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of Eleanor Cross Road, High Street and Park Lane.
SCHEDULE 4: One Way Traffic – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of Eleanor Cross Road, High Street and Park Lane.
SCHEDULE 5: Prohibition of Turns – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of High Street and Park Lane.
SCHEDULE 6: 20 mph speed limit – those sections of roads listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – lengths of Eleanor Cross Road, High Street and Park Lane.
SCHEDULE 7: 30 mph speed limit – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – lengths of Monarchs Way, Eleanor Cross Road, Queens Road, High Street, Winston Churchill Way and Swanfield Road.
