What is happening?

BATH & NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL

(25-061) (LYME ROAD, LYME GARDENS AND CHARMOUTH ROAD, NEWBRIDGE, BATH) (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) (ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Bath and North East Somerset Council proposes to make an order under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will introduce the following restrictions in Southlands, Weston, Bath;

1. Prohibit Motor Vehicles between the hours of 8.30-9.05am and 2.55-3.40pm Monday-Friday on the length of Charmouth Road from its junction with Lyme Road and its cul de sac end creating a school street scheme for Newbridge Primary School. The restriction shall apply on school days during term time, except for vehicles exempted under this Order or holding a valid permit.

2. Introduce an easterly direction one-way system for motorists running from the southerly section of Lyme Gardens into Lyme Road and the southerly section of Charmouth Road, in Newbridge, Bath.

Full details of the proposals, together with a map and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the order, may be inspected at the One Stop Shops at Manvers Street, Bath, The Hollies, High Street, Midsomer Norton and at the Civic Centre, Market Walk, Keynsham during normal office hours or may be requested, free of charge, by contacting by email council_connect@bathnes.gov.uk or by calling 01225 394025. Objections and representations with respect to the proposal, together with the grounds on which they are made must be sent by 29th December 2025, by email to Lns_tro@bathnes.gov.uk or in writing to the Traffic Management Team using the address below. Please quote the reference of the scheme: 25-061.

Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation, together with the name and address of the person making it, could become available for public inspection.
