What is happening?
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF SWALE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT No.21) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act:
The Order was made on 8th January 2026, and will come into effect on 30th January 2026, and will Amend The Kent County Council (Various Roads, Borough of Swale) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2024 by introducing no waiting at any time double yellow lines (DYL) on the following lengths of roads in Faversham, Swale:-
COURT STREET – On both sides from its junction with Market Place to the change of road surface to cobble setts near 46 Court Street
EAST STREET – On both sides from its junction with Preston Street to the junction with Newton Road
MARKET PLACE – On both sides from its junction with Market Street/West Street to the junction with Court Street
MARKET STREET - On both sides from its junction with Preston Street to the junction of Market Place, excluding the layby outside 10-12a Market Street
WEST STREET – On both sides from its junction with Market Place to a point in line with the boundary of 16 Market Place and 2 West Street
GUILD HALL – Around the circumference of the Guild Hall
The Order will also introduce a single yellow line (SYL) with parking restrictions 6am to 6pm Monday to Sunday in the layby outside 10-12a Market Street.
Full details are contained in the made Order which, together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, a map and a copy of any Orders which will be amended by the Order may be examined on the consultation page of our website at www.swale.gov.uk, or further information can be requested by emailing Engineers@swale.gov.uk.
Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
