What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF A PUBLIC PATH ORDER

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY

BRIDLEWAY 67 REETH, FREMINGTON AND HEALAUGH (20.75/67)

DIVERSION ORDER 2025

On 11 November 2025 the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority confirmed the above order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert the section of public bridleway near Gringley Bottom that runs from point A (grid reference NY 9899 0005) in an east north easterly direction to Point B (NY 9961 0019) (total length 634 metres), so as to run, instead, from point C (SD 9890 9933) in a generally eastwards direction for 151 metres to Point D (SD 9905 9944). Here, the bridleway will turn to 2 metres as it proceeds eastwards for a further 5 metres to point E (SD 9908 9995), crossing historic earthworks associated with Surrender Smelt Mill. From point E the bridleway will proceed east north eastwards for 22 metres to point F (SD 9908 9995), at the junction with Footpath 20.75/34. The bridleway will continue from point F for 531 metres eastwards, eastwards then again north eastwards to point G (NY 9949 0015). From here the bridleway will zigzag down a hillside for 43 metres to point H (NY 9952 0017) then continue for 14 metres to a bridle bridge at point I (NY 9954 0017) and climb the hillside in a general north easterly direction for 92 metres to point B (NY 9961 0019) (total length 862 metres) as shown on the order map. All distances stated are approximate.

The order comes into force on the date of confirmation of this order, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 28 November 2025, make an application to the High Court.
